1946年梁思成在北京清华大学创立建筑系。新中国成立前夕,他们邀请郑孝燮到清华任教,当年33岁的郑孝燮决定放弃在武汉的城市规划工作,携全家北上。在清华建筑系教书期间,梁思成先生非常重视建筑历史和建筑艺术理论的教学,选对郑孝燮产生了很深的影响。郑孝燮亲眼看到了梁思成夫妇为保护古建筑所做的许多工作和遭受的种种磨难,当时他没有想到,此后他也会走上这条道路。
In 1946, Liang Sicheng founded the Department of Architecture at Tsinghua University in Beijing. On the eve of the founding of New China, they invited Zheng Xiaoxie to teach in Tsinghua University. Then 33-year-old Zheng Xiaoxie decided to abandon his urban planning work in Wuhan and bring his family home northward. During his teaching at Tsinghua University, Mr. Liang Sicheng attached great importance to the teaching of architectural history and architectural art theory. The election had a profound impact on Zheng Xiaoxie. Zheng Xiaoxie saw with his own eyes the many hardships suffered by Liang Si-cheng and his couple in protecting ancient buildings. At that time, he did not think he would embark on this road.
