Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, one of the world’s premier luxury hotel groups, in partnership with Sina.com and National Geographic Traveler China, Photographers’Companion and New Weekly magazines, announced its second “My Shangri-La” photography competition in Beijing on August 31.
Following the first successful contest in 2009, the second competition explores the theme of “love and harmony.”Amateur and professional photographers are invited to capture the essence of Shangri-La through the camera lens while reflecting on their personal perception of “love and harmony.”
The competition will start on August 31 and end on October 15. A panel of renowned judges including famous movie director Tian Zhuangzhuang, Professor Wang Chuan, Deputy Director of the School of Design of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, and celebrated photographer Feng Hai will select the winning photographs. Prizewinners will be announced at a grand gala dinner in December. Exhibitions of the winning photographs will be held at various ShangriLa hotels between December 2011 and May 2012.
“Two years ago, the first ‘My Shangri-La’ photo competition received nearly 4,000 submissions, out of which 30 award-winning works were exhibited in eight Shangri-La locations at home and abroad. It created a vista that offered the participants and followers a glimpse of serenity, mystique, nature, grace, enchantment and care, which are all intrinsic qualities of Shangri-La. We are confident that the 2011 ‘My Shangri-La’ photo competition focusing on the themes of love and harmony will be even more successful,” said Kent Zhu, Shangri-La’s group director of sales and marketing.
Contestants can submit photographs that reflect the words“Shangri-La—love and harmony.” All participants can enter up to three digital images. Entries need to be submitted online at http://travel.sina.com.cn/myshangri-la2/ by October 15.
