在我国南部甜菜栽培地区的实践证明,采取甜菜母根露地越冬可节省人力、运输力和冬季窖藏管理工作等,具有很多优越性,是甜菜栽培技术中的新方向.但在北部地区,特别是新疆北部较寒冷的甜菜区是否可以采取露地越冬,还在探索中.目前采种的甜菜母根,仍是冬季进行窖藏,对进一步扩大采种面积,完成种子生产任务造成很多困难,特别是在新疆各国营农场地多、人少、交通不便、运输紧张的情况下,更是因难.因此,探讨在新疆采用露地越冬方法,具有极为重要的实践意义.
