在第二届量化历史讲习班上.Hoffman教授做了三场分别题为“早期近代征服的政治经济:一个经济模型”(The Political Economy of Early Modern Conquest:An Economic Model),“早期近代征服的政治经济:历史可以解释模型之外(的外生条件)吗?”(The Political Economy of Early Modern Conquest:Can History Explain What is Outside the Model?)~([2])和“抵押市场的发展:法国与美国的案例”(The Development of Mortgage Markets:The Examples of France and the United States)的讲座。
At the Second Quantitative History Workshop, Professor Hoffman gave three separate presentations entitled “The Political Economy of Early Modern Conquest: An Economic Model,” “Early Modern Conquest: An Economic Model, Political Economy of Early Modern Conquest: Can History Explain What is Outside the Model? ~ ([2]) and ”Political Economy of Modern Conquest: Can History Explain Exceptional Models? Seminar on the Development of Mortgage Markets: The Examples of France and the United States. In the first two lectures, Professor Hoffman addressed two related issues: why Europe conquered the world, not elsewhere; and why Europe has continued to split into pieces without forming long-term hegemony. In the third lecture, Professor Hoffman focused on the rise and explanation of notary public in the French mortgage market. All three lectures involve the comparison of historical cases and the formation of institutions.
