随着新课改的深入,改变教育观念,改变教学方法,提高学生综合素质,英语更不例外,尤为重要。
我们说,英语应讲求交际,注意能力,现就“转换式”在英语教学中的运用谈谈自己的见解,供同行们参考。
英语是一门语言实践性很强的学科,相当一部分单项填空题的题干是由学生并不那么熟悉的句式构成的,在某种程度上来说,这就加大了试题的难度,那么如何做好这类试题,关键在于掌握较好的做题方法,抓住主次,想方设法将复杂的、不常见的句式换成简单的、常见的句式。此类方法归纳起来,大致可归纳为以下几种:
一、将感叹句“转换”成陈述句
例:How pleased the Emperor was ____ what the cheats had said.
A. to hearB. hear C. hearingD. heard
答案为A。在答题过程中肯定会有学生因句中有动词was选C或D。若将题干还原成“The Emper or was pleased ____ what the cheats had said”,我们马上会发现它属于be pleased to do句型,因为动词不定式to hear在此用作原因状语。
二、将疑问句“转换”成陈述句
例:Is this place ____ your father lived in.
A. where B. when C. that D. the one
由于受定语从句先行词的影响,学生很可能将this plece看作定语从句的先行词而误选A或C,但是一旦我们把题干还原成陈述句“This place ____ (that) your father lived in”,就会一目了然,答案只能选D,在句中充当表语。
三、将被动语态“转换”成主动语态
例:I was expected ____ her bike. Which answer is wrong?
A. her repairB. repairingC. her to repairD. repair
我们先把被动结构转换成主动结构,选项分别代入
A.She expected me to help her repair her bike. help后跟不定式的复合结构,help后的不定式可带to也可不带to。
B.She expected me to help repairing her bike. help后没有接动名词的用法,can’t help doing结构除外。
C.She expected me to help her to repair her bike.用法与A相同。
D.She expected me to help repair her bike. help后跟不定式短语,不定式符号to可以省略。综上所述,答案为B。
四、将倒装语序“转换”成正常语序
例:To all of you ____ the honour for the success.
A. belong toB. belongs toC. belongD. belongs
答题时,有的学生会误将all of you当作主语而选A或C,这是因为没有理解句子所致。若将题干由倒装语序转换或正常语序,句子便成了“The honour for the success ____ to all of you”。我们就可以清楚地看出主语为抽象名词the honour,谓语动词应该是第三人称单数形式,且belong to中的介词to已在句首,故答案为D。
五、将省略句“转换”成完整的句子
例:——How did you come here?
——_____.
A. By my carB. On my carC. In my carD. Take my car
题干中答语是个交际用语的省略句,学生一看上句“你如何来”?很容易误选D,“乘坐小汽车来的”。若将省略句部分补充完整,使句式变为“I came here by car or in my car.”问题就不难解决,因为答案中没有by car,所以答案就只好选C了。
六、将复杂结构“转换”成简单结构
例:Here is a notebook, in which ____ the names of the persons and their telephone numbers.
A. writeB. were writtenC. writtenD. was written
答案为B。为了易懂,我们首先将复杂句式结构转换成简单句式结构:Here is a notebook. The names of the persons and their telephone numbers were written in it.原句中的关系代词which意义上等于第一个简单句中的a notebook, “the names of the persons and their telephone numbers”是写在笔记本里的,因而介词用in,且用被动结构复数形式。
七、将强调句式“转换”成一般句式
例:It was ____ the old machine that the older worker spend the whole afternoon at workshop.
A. to repairB. in repairC. repairingD. repaired
答案为C。学生初次审题,不知所措。一旦我们将强调句转换成一般句式,马上就会发现句中有spend some time (in) doing sth. 这一句型,in可以省略,此题就迎刃而解了。
八、融入情景,注重语言交际
——I’ve got your invitation.
——Oh, good. ____ (2002年春季高考)
A. Can you come?B. Thanks a lotC. I’ll take itD. May I help you?
从语境可知答案为A。如果将语境改为:
——Could you lend me your dictionary?
——Yes, of course. Here you are.
——____. I won’t take it long. I want to look up a few new words.
此时,空白处应填Thanks a lot。当对方对你有帮助或为你提供所需要的物品时,用此语作答。
如把语境改为:
——How much is this dictionary?
——Eighty yuan.
——Oh, the price is reasonable. ____.
此时,空白处应填I’ll take it,其含义为“我要了”,当你认为这种东西称心如意,价格合理,决定要买时用此语。
如将情景改为:
——____?
——I want to buy a dictionary.
此时,空白处应填May I help you,这是服务行业售票员、营业员,管理人员常用的口头用语,其含义为:你需要什么?/我能为你做点什么?/你需要帮助吗?
九、留意标点符号的暗示,巧妙做题
例:Tom passed all his examinaions; ____ pleased his parents.
A. whoB. whichC. itD. all of which
答案为C。此题是一个并列句,若将分号改为逗号应选B,定语从句。因为此题中which不能在并列分句中作分句的主语。
十、巩固练习,运用自如
从A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
