到目前为止,计算机上配置的硬盘机先后共使用了六种接口类型,这些接口类型和相应的性能特点如下。 1.ST 506/412接口 ST接口是Seagate公司开发并首先用于ST506型磁盘机,采用两条扁平电缆连接线(一条是40根的控制线,另外一条是20根的数据线)与硬盘控制器相连,其数据传输率为5MB/S。最多可支持四个硬盘驱动器,最大硬盘空间为150MB。该接口在PC/XT机和早期的PC/AT机中曾大量使用,但目前已不再广泛应用,主要在386以下低档计算机上还可以看见。 2.ESDI接口 ESDI接口是在ST 506/412接口基础上改进的一种接口,采用两条扁平电缆连接线(一条)是34根的控制线,另外一条是20根的数据线)与硬盘控制器相连,其数据传输率为10MB/S,最多可支持四个硬盘驱动器,硬盘空间为40~300MB,最大硬盘空间为600MB。该接口自身有局限性,因而不但无法得到广泛应用,而且现在已经遭到淘汰。 3.IDE接口 IDE接口最初由Compaq集团的Western
