On June 28, 2003, the Third Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People’s Congress examined and adopted the “Resident Identity Card Law of the People’s Republic of China” (hereinafter referred to as the “Resident Identity Card Law”). The law came into force on January 1, 2004, and the 17-year “resident identity card” rule was withdrawn from the historical arena. Practice has proved that our country’s ID card has been steadily stabilized in practice since the 1980s.
