“雅贿”即以书、画、古玩等风雅之物为媒介,对一定对象行贿赂之实的一种社会交往行为。当这种交往方式具有一定的典型性,并成为一种风气之时,便构成了“雅贿”现象。因为与艺术品关系紧密,故“雅贿”又构成一定时期的一种艺术生态。艺术品多是艺术家创造的,考察一段时期的“雅贿”现象,可以发现这种现象与一些艺术家也存在着某种关联,有的甚至关系紧密,一些艺术家凭借其“一技之长”作为得名、获利的手段。从历史上看,由于“雅贿”行为与传统社会中的许多艺术交往行为(如雅玩、应酬、馈赠等)有某种相似的特点,常常会模糊人们的视听,甚至可以欺骗律法,因此“雅贿”现象不仅长期为人们的观念所疏忽,还反映出对艺术领域里一些问题认识的模糊。明代在仁、宣之时,文官政治初步形成,成为国家主要的政权组织形式。崇文之风渐隆,好雅的文人渐多。帝王、士大夫的“雅好”给艺术家带来了机遇,也带来了竞争。他们的互动关系也不再是单纯的“艺术”性质,艺术生态环境逐渐变得多样而复杂,“雅贿”的风气在这个时期初步形成。本文以当时的画家谢环为考察焦点,尝试讨论上述问题。
