2011年5月14日,法兰克福1:3不敌多特蒙德,无奈告别德甲赛场。比赛中法兰克福并非毫无机会,小将罗德曾经先声夺人,但最终惨遭逆转。俗话说,君子报仇,十年不晚。18个月后,法兰克福重新回到德甲,并成功复仇了多特蒙德。德甲第5轮,法兰克福再遇多特蒙德,面对昔日推自己降级的仇家,升班马在落后两球的情况下顽强追平比分,最终3:3与卫冕冠军战平。这令多特蒙德和拜仁的差距再度被拉大,也保住了法兰克福前六轮的不败金身。
