Daya Bay, the warmer winds, blue waves. Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station is located right on this beautiful bay. When officially started on August 7, 1987, it was still ridiculous. Eighteen years later, a large-scale nuclear power plant that represents the advanced level of international high technology, a garden-style, garden-like new nuclear power city has emerged. On February 1 and May 6, 1994, the two units were put into commercial operation. Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station generates more than 10 billion kWh of electricity each year, of which 70% of electricity is supplied to Hong Kong and 30% of electricity is supplied to Guangdong Power Grid. Through nuclear power generation, Guangdong and Hong Kong have reduced the consumption of coal by 3.7 million tons per year, which greatly reduces the annual emissions of gases that cause “greenhouse effect” and acid rain. These include 9 million tons of carbon dioxide, 170,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, 30,000 tons of nitric oxide, and a few dry tons of dust in the air.
