据说湖南美术出版社一直沿袭着一个传统:大凡离休赋闲了的画家编辑们,都可以有权利在社里的支持下出版一本像样的个人画册或文集。比如郭天民先生出版了《文心雕虫》,左汉中先生出版了《笔随阁花雨》。这不,老社长萧沛苍先生离休了,自然也就出版了这本《萧沛苍油画集·与风景同行》,并于今年举办了一个个人油画展,算是一个有着强烈画画情结的艺术家对个人艺术生涯的小小回顾。但是,表现在萧沛苍先生身上最优秀的特质莫过于他的知识分子情结。一个人之所以是知识分子,是因为他在言论中,行为中表现出了正直和责任。作为在美术出版界工作了20多年的资深出版人,萧先生和他的同仁以他们的出版事业影响中国美术进程的最大贡献当在对中国当代艺术不遗余力的传播和推动上。萧先生一生的主要事业在出版,画画呢,他觉得把它作为一种生活方式,以轻松自在为好。
