Taihe Township is located on the bank of the Yangtze River along the Golden Waterway. The township has 17 villages and 200 production teams with a total population of 28,800. The township was originally a poor town with more than three people and three less people (many more people lived in less land, less consumption and more poverty, and more poor households had less wealth). After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, the reform and opening up brought vitality and vigor to the township, and the agriculture, deputy and industrial sectors have embarked on a track of sustained, stable and coordinated development. In 1990, the output value of the tertiary industry reached 185 million yuan. The people’s lives have been greatly improved. The Taihe Township party committee and township government at the same time as the economic development of the whole township regards adhering to and developing cooperative medical care as the spirit of the implementation of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Party.
