I. Introduction In recent years, China’s shipbuilding plate steel production has made great progress, the quality is also rising, and began to be used for the construction of export ships. Therefore, systematic testing of the performance of domestic shipbuilding steel is an urgent task. Almost all hulls now use welded structure. So the welding process is very important. Poor welding can pose a threat to the safety of the ship. Fracture mechanics developed in modern times can well explain the situation of low-stress brittle fracture. Fracture mechanics pointed out that the fracture toughness of the material is one of the factors to control the brittleness of the welded structure.
