内蒙古国营察右后旗土牧尔台机械林场位于内蒙古高原,阴山北麓的平缓丘陵区,海拔1450米,属于强烈的大陆性气候,严寒、干旱多风,年平均气温2.5℃,年降水量250毫米左右,且多集中在7、8两月。每年刮200天左右5—8级的大风。植物生长期110天。无地表水,地下水位一般在30米左右。土壤为发育在干旱草原上的栗钙土。植被为旱生型植物群落,没有天然林,历史上也没有造林习惯。几年来我场在党的正确领导下,通过向干旱做斗争,从失败的教训中摸
