In May this year, Marshal Montgomery, the British army commander, went to see the 40th Tank Wing in the barracks in London. Before he was out of column, all the walls of the barracks were lacquered: "Buber called for peace. No atomic bomb. No more wars. A police officer was surprised to see someone quickly wipe out the slogans. When Liverpool’s working people heard that Montgomery was going to the city, they plastered huge peace signs with white powder on the walls of the roadside around the chapel and marched with peace placards to parade through the streets to distribute anti-war leaflets . When Montgomery arrived in Liverpool and joined the ranks of the church through the streets, local peace campaigners held another demonstration of anti-war demonstrations. As a result, eight people were taken by the police, three of whom were women. (London’s Worker’s Daily)
