1 Fire Cases 1.1 Power Line Shorts Figure 1 shows the extension cords and wires collected from the fire scene. The melting marks are formed at points A, B, and C. The wires at point B melt together. Observe the order in which the deposits are formed. The deposit A is closest to the power supply. The two traces of the deposit B are completely melted. As the wires are fused together, the large current caused by the short circuit continues, and the power is cut off by the main switch operation. After the power was turned off, the wire connected to the switch did not short circuit and did not melt.
