This book is not an attempt to give an exhaustive or comprehensive account of the Christian mission in the United States in the past 60 years. The author’s theme is that missionary work is one aspect of the U.S. influence on China, and its basic assumption is that it is entirely consistent with Chinese culture and China People’s beliefs are alien to themselves. Due to the non-compliance with the needs of the Chinese people, the missionary movement came to an end in the early years of the 1950s when the marxism of Marxism and Chinese nationalism were victoriously combined.
