本矿区属层状浅海相沉积石灰石矿床。矿体构造复杂,断层和废石夹层多,喀斯特溶洞裂隙发育。主要矿层以纯质石灰岩为主,次为碎屑灰岩和白云质砂质灰岩。纯质石灰岩呈粗粒、细粒晶质和致密隐晶质显微粒状构造,普氏硬度f=8～10,松散系数1.54,容重2.660～2.724吨/米~3,化学成分含CaO50%以上,MgO小于2.5%以下,为优质工业原料。我矿为山坡露天机械化开采,由于存在大量夹缝土(包括裂隙土、夹层土、溶洞土),爆破后与矿石混在一起,形成“土石混合物”,呈大块片状,粘结得象年糕一样,含泥量30%左右。
