The chemical structures of various bleomycins produced by Streptomyces verticillus all have the same Leucomachidic acid and the terminal amine moiety is different and therefore the bleomycin can be used to prepare various semisynthetic bleomycin . This article describes the preparation of zeaxanthin by enzymatic hydrolysis of bleomycin B_2. In order to find a microorganism capable of hydrolyzing bleomycin B 2, the strain was inoculated into a 50 ml shake flask containing 10 ml of sterilized culture medium.
