近代中国教会学校是指西方各国天主教、基督教各派教会来华传教士开办的各类学校。它是近代教育的一种特殊的组成部分,对中国教育、文化、医疗、科技、政治、经济等影响较深。本文所说的语文教育是指集儒家伦理道德教育、经世济时教育、知识百科教育于一体的广义的语文教育。纵观教会学校的小学、中学甚至大学的语文教学方法,大致相同。 Modern Chinese church schools refer to all kinds of schools run by Catholic missionaries and Christian missionary churches in western countries.
