卖掉硬盘部门,换来20来亿美金,再抽出一笔赔给5000名被裁员工。这就是 IBM 在2002年6月4日给外界所看到的一切。日立和 IBM 公司对外宣布:双方将成立一个硬盘业务的新公司,日立将斥资20.5亿美元,购买 IBM 硬盘驱动器相关资产中的绝大部分,IBM则把包括硬盘驱动业务相关的知识产权转让给双方成立的新公司,IBM 公司原硬盘部门的18000名员工也会顺延转入新公司。IBM 还表示,出售硬盘驱动器部门获得的收益将用以支付裁员和其他机构重组活动所需的费用。截止6月初,IBM 在全球范围内的裁员总数已经超过了5000人。
