A total of 16 domestic round-trip flights were randomly selected from a common model to conduct a field survey on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are currently focused on the cabin environment. Through the sampling of ambient air VOCs in the cockpit and the monitoring of the changes of total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and CO2 concentrations, the main detected substances, their concentration levels and their changing trends in each flight stage were obtained. The analysis of pollutant types, concentration levels and ventilation shows that the total concentration of pollutants in the cockpit increased to a certain extent during the cruise phase. The increment mainly came from personnel activities such as food service and human body emission. This conclusion is expected to provide a reference for further understanding of the characteristics of cockpit source, improvement of airworthiness standard design parameters, and reasonable optimization of operating energy consumption of cabin environment control system (ECS).
