The main purpose of this study is to provide the development strategies of supporting and promoting the organic food industry in Thailand from analysis of Thaiorganic market situations by qualitative research method of interview and observation to guide the governmental policy and involved stakeholders of organic foods to understand the essential factors to resolve the most common problems related to the development of organic production and marketing. For the future development of organic foods in Thailand a list of possibilities has been complied resulting from a SWOT analysis. Measures are to be taken both in the area of production and consumer information, the latter through reinforced presence of organic farming and marketing. Further, an organic cluster might be a strong tool to enhance the development of the organic food industry movement as a whole. The most important
key actor to support and promote the organic food industry is the government sector that can use the action plans of the organic food development strategies to increase the consumer demands and competitive advantages of both Thai domestic and international markets, especially in Europe. This dissertation is an explorative study which can only be looked at as one amongst many thought provoking impulses regarding future development. The main focus, however, should be on the government action planned policies. Real action must be taken and closer cooperation between different interesting groups will be essential.
