With the rapid increase of Chinas presence on the global arena due to its fastpaced economical growth and development, we can find vast amount of informationin regard to cultural cooperation and development with China. Despite the tremendousflow ofnews on China we come across daily, it seems that the significance of the roleof public diplomacy has been somehow underestimated. Nevertheless, it is one of themost effective ways to help shape the image ofa country among the public from othernations. So the goal of our research was to look closer at the issue of publicdiplomacy and the potentials it possesses.The object was to focus our study on the relationship between Latvia andChina. It was appealing to look at the relations between the two countries becausethey have only built their diplomatic ties since twenty years ago. In the course of ourresearch, special emphasis was placed upon the feedback of Latvian residents, as it isnecessary to study their first-hand opinions. To accomplish our objective, severalapproaches were employed, including literature reviews, surveys among Latvianresidents, and face-to-face interviews.
