  Mitochondria are the powerhouses of plant cells which provide the energy necessary for cell metabolism.In plant mitochondria,transcriptional and post-transcriptional steps play predominant role in determining gene product abundance.The complex post-transcriptional processes of plant mitochondria such as 5 and 3 end processing,RNA splicing,RNA editing and RNA stability are necessary to produce the mature transcripts.
