In order to study the failure modes of bamboo and mechanical properties under different stretching conditions,the study used electronic universal testing machine and medium-speed strain rate testing machine to carry out bamboo quasi-static and medium-speed tensile tests.The tests obtained different failure modes,the tensile strength and the stress-strain curves of bamboo in the quasi-static and tensile speed of 2.2 m/s conditions.Tests showed that: nodal sample was easier than internodes sample fracture,the fracture surface of internodes sample was acicular and the nodal sample fractures at the node,but the fracture surface of internodes sample was not acicular in medium-speed tensile test; maximum tensile strength of the internodes sample and the nodal sample are 191.23MPa and 86.05MPa respectively in the quasi-static tensile test; tensile strength of the internodes sample decreased with the increase of age in medium-speed tensile test.In the medium-speed tensile test,one-year-old internodes samples had higher tensile strength,while three-year-old and five-year-old internodes samples had lower tensile strength compared with the quasi-static stretching.
