The Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia is a high volume tertiary care center dealing with a wide variety of prenatal abnormalities with a multidisciplinary approach.Imaging plays an important role in establishing a diagnosis, providing prognostic information, and serving as a roadmap for intervention.Though ultrasound is the main prenatal imaging modality, fetal MRI can provide important additional information in selected cases.I will review the role of fetal MRI as practiced at our institution, with an emphasis on extracranial abnormalities.Imaging examples, such as congenital lung lesions, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and sacrococcygeal teratoma will be discussed.
