In order to investigate the seasonality of climate change induced by land use and land cover change (LULCC),two numerical experiments forced by potential and current vegetation cover, respectively, were performed using a fully coupled Community Earth System Model (CESM).The LULCC is primarily characterized by converting forest to cropland.Unlike most previous studies which focused on the impact of LULCC on climate mean states, this study investigated the seasonality of LULCC-induced climate change and climate variability. The results showed that LULCC led to a reduced diurnal temperature range at 2 meter due to the enhanced (reduced) diurnal cycle of ground heat flux (sensible heat flux).
