This research aims to provide new knowledge about the inception of motion in rivers with coarse sediments and, possibly, macro-roughness flow regime, for which, so far, civil and environmental engineers face much uncertainty in the determination of threshold hydraulic conditions for sediment transport.

This paper presents a one-dimensional model for simulating flood routing and sediment transport over mobile alluvium in a vegetated channel network.

A numerical model was developed that can simulate gate openings of weirs as well as the unsteady flow in a river reach. It is a multiply-connected network model based on the Preissmanns four-point sche
The amount and spatial distribution of bed load particles contribute significantly to riverbed changes. Therefore, the prediction of bed load transport rate is an important aspect of river planning.

During extreme floods, a large quantity of floating debris can be produced due to erosion, drifting with the flood water and eventually accumulating upstream of the dam.
