Through an ordinary pyrolysis at 300 ℃,hexagonal-phase NaYF4∶Yb, Er (Y∶Yb∶Er=80∶18∶2 mol%) up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) with strong green emission under 980 nm near infrared (NIR) excitation were obtained.To further enhance the emission and reduce quenching caused by solution, NaYF4∶Yb, Er@NaYF4 core/shell structure nanoparticles (NPs) with 9 times stronger green emission were made.The water dispersibility of these NPs was much improved after being coated with DMSA.
