Neurons communicate in two ways, neural impulse discharge and neurotransmitter release, that generate electrophysiological and electrochemical signals.Study on dual mode signals has a great significance in understanding the working mechanism of the brain. This paper reports a multi-channel dual mode neural information detecting system based on micro-electrode array(MEA).The detecting system contains electrophysiological detecting module and electrochemical detecting module.Electrophysiological detecting module contained preamplifier, low noise main amplifier, band pass filter and notch filter.Through the electrophysiological detecting module, microvolt neural signal was amplified to millivolt level signal.Electrochemical headstage converted current signal obtained from micro-electrode array to voltage signal that could be identified by signal acquisition module.
