In order to investigate the characteristics of microbial aerobic degradation of tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), a bacterial strain, which is able to degradate TBBPA efficiently, is isolated from activated sludge by selective enrichment method.Based on morphology, physiological and biochemical characteristics, phylogenetie analysis of 16S rDNA gene sequence similarity, the strain is identified as Pseudomonas.sp.The characteristics of the microbial degradation of TBBPA are investigated.The results show that the addition of beef extract significantly enhances the TBBPA degradation ratio in the present of glucose as the best carbon resource.The optimum aerobic condition is 8 g/L glucose, 0.5g/L beef extract, 2g/L NH4NO3, pH7.0,30-37 ℃, 100 r/min.Under the optimal condition, TBBPA degradation reaction matches first-order kinetics equation and 10 mg/L TBBPA can be removed 95.6% for six days.
