A marine bacterial strain,22II-S11-z7 exhibiting strongly activity against the harmful red-tide algae,Phaeocystis globosa, was isolated from the surface seawater of the Atlantic Ocean.Based on 16S rRNAgene sequences, morphological and biochemical characteristics, strain 22II-S11-z7 was identified to be Aquimarina atlantica 22II-S11-z7.The growth of Phaeocystis globosawas suppressed by strain 22II-S11-z7,the growth inhibition ratio reached 74.7%after 72 hours. In addition, the algicidal ability was seriously affected by the concentration of the bacteria culture, the higher concentration of the bacteria culture, the stronger algicidal activity to P.globosa.Moreover,strain 22II-S11-z7 attacked P.globose by an indirectly way.The algicidal compounds of thermal stability, acidic and alkaline condition stability performance and the molecular weight were studied. All these results indicated that strain 22II-S11-z7 may be a potential bio-agent in controlling harmful algal blooms in the near future.
