Bchcets disease(BD) is a chronic, multisystemic inflammatory disorder in which recurrent oral ulcerations, genital ulcerations, skin symptoms, and uveitis are key elements. There is a higher incidence of BD in east A-sian and Mediterrancan countries which corresponds to the Old Silk Route used by traders from the East to Eu-rope. Serious complications such as blindness or intestinal perforations can occur. However, the pathogenesisof BD remains obscure and there are no definitive diagnostic tests to aid the diagnosis except for clinical symp-toms. But vascular endothelial injury seems to be responsible since clinically recurrent thrombophlebitis, thrombosis, erythema nodosum, and cutancous vasculitis occur frequently, In addition, histopathological changes consisting of perivascular mononuclear cellular infiltrate, endothelial cell swelling or necrosis, partialluminal obliteration and occasionally fibrinoid necrosis of the vessels are observed. In more severe forms ofdamage, small to medium sized arteries, veins and capillaries may be affected by a necrotizing or granuloma-tour vasculitis.
