  The great diversity of orchids in China, especially in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, is well documented. Many species are used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and have a long history of cultivation and cultural appreciation. Cymbidium have been depicted in Chinese classical artwork, including paintings, calligraphy, and poetry. Many Dendrobium species have been collected for TCM, with those in Sichuan being long valued for quality.
