In the process of monolignol biosynthesis,phenylalanine ammonialyase (PAL) is thought to be the first step towards monolignol biosynthesis and other phenolic secondary metabolisms derived from primary metabolism,and plays multiple important roles involved in many biosynthesis processes of flavone,lignin and alkaloid to defend disease and stress.
