Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a specialized tissue that can dissipate energy through the uncoupling effect of UCP1 and therefore is a therapeutic target to counteract obesity-associated morbidities. To identify genes activating the nonshivering thermogenesis of BAT, we performed RNA-Seq of mRNA samples collected from the BAT of cold-exposed mice (24h) (Bat-cold) and of mice kept at room temperature (Bat-normal) using next-generation sequencing technology (SOLID, Life Technologies).
