The business application of carotenoids was restricted because of its low solubility and bioavailability in human.Micronization is an effective way to solve this problem.Troditional supercritical fluid technique for preparing fine particles has hardly brought about industrialization due to low solubility of carotenoids.The recent progresses of the RESS process(Rapid Expansion of Supercritical Solutions) is reviewed in the article.
