  Stent technology has been widely applied to the treatment of occlusive coronary artery disease.However,restenosis is a serious problem associated with the traditional bare metal stents (BMS).A modified method,drug-eluting stents (DES),has been developed to solve this problem.The key component of a DES is the polymer coating which should have good mechanical properties,good biocompatibility and controlled drug release property.In this study,a new class of polymer,poly(ethylene oxide)-polysulfone block copolymers (PEO-b-PSFs) with different contents of PEO,were synthesized and employed as the drug carrier.PEO-b-PSFs have the microphase-separated structure containing flexible and hydrophilic domains (PEO) and hard and hydrophobic domains (PSF).They are well soluble in organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF).Cell growth,hemolysis,cell hyperplasia,toxicity and sensitization tests revealed that PEO-b-PSFs have good biocompatibility.
