The purpose of this study is to develop a flipped classroom model and derive a set of strategies for middle school Korean subject classes using Merrills First Principles of Instruction.Merrills First Principles of Instruction is a appropriate framework to apply since it encompasses necessary steps in a task-centered approach.Flipped learning has been a trend in the world as well as in Korea due to the capability to overcome the limitations of traditional classroom and encourage a learner-centered learning. However,up to date, applicable methods and strategies have not been sufficiently introduced in Korea to fulfill the needs of teachers.Korean classes have been still confined to knowledge delivery method, thus hindering interaction and self-directed learning.Flipped learning model for Korean is aimed to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.Based on the model proposed,a set of strategies teachers could use in the classroom is also suggested.
