Haptic guidance control is one of the most promising tools as a driver assistant system due to providing steering torque for path guidance without imposing much stress on drivers vision. In addition, it can provide continuous assistance unlike sound presentation system. In this paper, it is considered that haptic steering can be applied to lane change assistance, and an assistant torque can instruct the drivers to choose the target course intuitively.A driving simulator experiment was carried out, to evaluate drivers responses to the different kinds of assistant steering torques. The experimental results indicate there are suitable amplitude, frequency and duty ratio of the torque to indicate the direction to drivers.
