  In cryogenic applications,bearings,seals,valves etc are extensively used.When there is relative motion with interactive surfaces (as in the case of bearings),undesired heat is generated.Conventional lubricants like grease and oil do not serve the purpose since they solidify at cryogenic temperatures which can adversely affect the system by generating unwanted friction and heat.For such applications,solid lubricants like polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE),molybdenum disulphide (MoS2),amorphous carbon,polymers,etc.are used.
