In order to move from energy consuming to energy neutral or even energy producing wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) a holistic approach to the problem is required.It is essential that theenergy optimization project involves optimization of every step in the treatment process,both within wastewater and sludge treatment.Thestarting point is intelligent use of the carbon and energy content in the raw wastewater and to regard the raw wastewater as a valuable resource.
