Situated in the poor and economically underdeveloped Xiangxi Tujiazu Miaozu autonomous prefecture, the Jishou University concentrates on the local minorities and the development of the region.The University initiated many projects to help lifting the poverty in the region.One of them is the "Kiwifruit Project".It encourages local farmers to get actively involved in the kiwifruit production and processing in Xiangxi.
