For many decades, adjuvant radiotherapy has been used after mastectomy for patients with locally advanced breast cancer.By reducing the risk of recurrency, radiotherapy can improve the overall survival of these patients.However,in the era of new systemic treatment and target therapy ,controversy remains over the indication of radiotherapy after mastectomy.An extensive review is presented with an special focus in our experience in the management of locally advanced and recurrent breast cancer.
