Acid-sensing ion channel (ASIC) is a family of cation channels that are activated by extracellular pH reduction.Subunit l a (ASIC1a) is wildly expressed throughout the neural system and has been reported to contribute to many pathological conditions, such as ischemia and pain. Our previous studies showed that surface insertion events of ASIC1a are important for the central sensitization development in peripheral inflammatory pain and intemalization of ASIC1 a regulates acid-induced cell death.
