Describing the discovery of low-toxic agricultural antibiotics in the laboratory of Wen-Sheng Xiang using the strategy that combines special sampling and screening methods to obtain plant endophytic actinomycetes, novel pattern to regulate and culture the microorganisms with sensitive and specific affinity screening based on drug targets.Using this newly developed strategy led to the isolation of new microorganisms including 3 novel species and 11 genera of actinomycetes together with more than 100 compounds with new structures or scaffolds, and the industrialization of 5 effective and safety insecticides that semi-biosynthesized from antibiotics produced by 3 isolated new Streptomyces.
