In Pakistan, to our knowledge, the etiology of grain discoloration is still unknown, because of the lack of experimental results supporting the role of different pathogens, nitrogen fertilization, open glumes or insect infestation. This research was conducted to illuminate the etiology and incidence of rice grain discoloration in Pakistan.A survey of major rice growing areas (Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku (RRI, KSK), Muridke, Ferozwala, Narowal and Kamoki) of Punjab Province was conducted for assessment of disease incidence and prevalence.Meanwhile, collection of diseased samples was also done.
