In the context of global warming,damage caused by extreme natural hazards has increased significantly.Exploring changing characteristics of hydrological extreme events in the arid region of China is a pre-requisite for good assessment of impacts of climatic changes on regional ecological environment and agricultural development.In this paper,15 indices of extreme temperature and 9 indices of extreme precipitation were examined.Temperature extremes had patterns consistent with warming,with indices derived from daily minimum temperature were of greater magnitudes than those from maximum temperature.
