Peptide transmitters, orexins, mediate their responses via OX1 and OX2 receptors.Tissue responses to orexins show a wide spectrum, which rely on the very promiscuous and versatile signaling oforexin receptors.The roles of membrane phospholipid-derived messengers in orexin receptor signaling have recently started to unravel.Phospholipases PLC, PLD and cPLA2 are strongly activated by orexins.
